My new hero, Niles Heron, at http://www.nilesheron.com/ said it best. Check out his post on our “BlueMondays x CrownNation SlutBag Edition Double EP” and the sad truth about the modern music supporter. MUST READ: A little piece of truth from Niles Heron.
NILES WRITES:
“Shout out to Crown Nation Music. Quelle and Houseshoes.
Detroit Stand up. Record buyers stand up. Music fans stand up.
I hear, regularly, from all of you (yes, I’m calling you out) that it’s a tragedy that this album or that album (read: Love for Sale) didn’t come out, or that this store or that record store (you know… the one that really supported “us” // read: FatBeats) is going out of business.
And you’re right. It is a tragedy.
It’s a tragedy every time this happens… But the real tragedy are the crocodile tears we cry every time Love for Sale doesn’t come out, and we just download the leak and use it as a point of complaint for the next three years. The real tragedy is that we wouldn’t have bought that album anyway. If we did we would have bought it from iTunes, not FatBeats… Not Tower Records…
I still buy vinyl. Because I like owning things that make me proud to be an artist. Because I like music. Because musician’s kids need to eat too. As do the children of the people who provide them outlets.
Put up or shut up.”
